Day in the Life

General School Mission

"The program of Beatitudes Age Link is designed to develop the security, trust and self-esteem of all enrolled children. All staff receive ongoing training in the thoughtful application of the most recent developments in the early childhood field. The Age Link program provides age-appropriate activities throughout the day. It is the intent of Age Link to always provide high quality child care and education to young children in a developmentally appropriate intergenerational setting that supports the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of children. The unique placement of Age Link adjacent to the Beatitudes Campus of Care has allowed us to include seniors in the planning of our program from its inception. Seniors serve in a variety of volunteer capacities: greeters, classroom assistants, working one-on-one with the children, rocking infants, clerical work, music and garden. We know that the richness of their experiences will enhance the quality of our program."

A Typical Day

"A Day in the Life of Age Link:
We start our day at Age Link at 6 a.m. Many of our friends arrive to play and begin their day.
Breakfast begins at 7.45 a.m. Our meals are prepared by a dietary staff from the Campus. Small groups eat together in our dining room. Our intention is to maintain a family atmosphere with conversation in pleasant, unhurried surroundings.
Following breakfast, the children enjoy being engaged in many activities including story-time, block building, art, music, creative movement and outside play.
AGE LINK supports the position of establishing curriculum for young children. We have developed a program for each age group which meets standards for accreditation.
A lesson plan of activities of the day is posted in each classroom. All activities are developmentally and age appropriate.
Lunch is served throughout the center beginning at 11:00 am. Following lunch our center rests.
Field trips that extend the learning for children will be planned with children's, parents and volunteers input. The Campus of Care affords us with many unique walking field trips. Some include the bank, the ice cream parlor, the drug store, the gift shop, a restaurant and a wellness clinic."
