From the Director:

We are a Montessori based school. Teachers present lessons to the children and then the children are free to choose their lessons. The children have freedom within a structured environment set to meet their developmental, emotional and physical needs.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Each child has his/her own lesson plan, therefore they follow at their own developmental pace. Teachers will observe to see if children are developing normally, or otherwise.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Tempe Montessori offers an authentic, quality Montessori education for children ages 14 months to 12 years old. The children are free to develop in a safe and caring environment.

A Typical Day

7:30 - 8:30 Children arrive to their classrooms
8:30-11:30 Children engage in a 3 hour work cycle. Children work on academia, language, mathematics, geography, culture, music, art, practical life, sensorial, and grace and courtesy lessons.
11:30- 12:00 Lunch time
12:15 half day pick up
12:00-1:00 recess/ outside time
1:00- 3:00 either nap/ rest time or children engage in another three hour work cycle.
3:00-6:00 aftercare. Children have free play or scheduled activities.

regular email communication, progress reports, parent teacher conferences, parent teacher interaction, parent administration interaction, open house, take your parent to school day, bulletin boards, parent education nights.


Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

dependent upon your child's age, they might spend an hour or two the first two weeks of school as they transition. Children who are having a difficult time are met with care and love. They are gently comforted by teachers or friends.
