Notes on Schedule and Extended Care
"
Awakening Seed provides an after school childcare program. Parents using this service must
make arrangements directly with the care provider.
The fee for after school care is $4.00 per hour ($5.00 per hour for toddlers). You also
may choose to pay a monthly rate for each hour used. The monthly rate for one hour is
$60.00, for two hours $120.00 and for three hours $180.00 ($70/$140/$175 for
toddlers). A snack is provided during the first hour after school. Parents who pick up children
after the hour will be charged for an additional full hour of childcare.
All toddlers in the after school program must be picked up by 5:30 p.m. No child
may remain at the school after 6:00 p.m. Parents picking up children after 6:00 p.m.
will be charged $10.00 per quarter hour, paid directly to the care giver.
Awakening Seed requires all children not attending the after school program to be picked up
no later than 3:15 p.m. Parents picking up their children after 3:15, for any reason, will be
charged for the first full hour of care. After School Care:
There are two options for after school fees. You can elect to pay $70 per month as a flat fee for each hour or an hourly rate (see rates below) per hour (or part of an hour) between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. All children must be picked up by 6:00 p.m.
There is no charge for before school care.

A Season of Rituals
Darkest December is upon us, and we are all preparing, in our different ways, to light it up with rituals. Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's. Parties, tree lightings, and holiday cards. Visits with family. Feasts, gifts, and candles.
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Get large plastic buckets (or sand buckets if you have lots of really little toys )in a variety of solid colors (red, blue, yellow, green, pink). Ask your child to clean up his/her toys by putting the toys in the bucket corresponding to the color bucket. Great for teaching personal responsibility, color identification, and sorting.
