Director's Comments on Individualized Teaching
Description of how teachers work with children who are
"behind," "excelling" or "different" from the majority of students
In a mixed age group this does not happen, each child works at their own pace. No one ever seems to be behind or ahead. We are able to note and accommodate areas that need work or should be fostered as areas of strength.
Parents' Comments on Individualized Teaching
Parent #1
The teacher is extremely skilful at making all the children not only participate, but learn, through her music-based curriculum. It enables an environment in which kids can actually pick up the basics of a lot of interesting topics (planets, weather, insects, the inevitable dinosaurs, great artists, under the sea) in a fun, memorable way. My child is nearly 8 now and still sings the songs she learned there. The fact that she deals in small classes also ensures focused attention on each child's character and needs.
Parent #2
The teacher is truly gifted with children. I only wish my son could have a teacher like her every year for the rest of his life.
Parent #3
Teacher #1 is the director of the school and is responsible for the parent/teacher relationship and conferences. Teacher #2 is a wonderful teacher but doesn't deal so much directly with parents. If it's necessary she will, but usually she defers to the director.
Parent #4
We have the most amazing preschool teacher/director. She provides clear messages about expectations, sets appropriate goals, and creates an environment that is engaging, educational, and stable. The children all love her and the parents see her as a resource for all things related to their children. One of the great things about the program is that in addition to bringing in guest artists and musicians, regular field trips are planned to complement the theme being taught and utilize the great assets of NYC!
Parent #5
My daughter has such an amazing bond with her teachers. She loved them and learned so much from their gentle care.
Parent #6
My daughter loved every minute of her time at Noteworthy School. Ms Stephanie was caring and affectionate and my daughter talks about her still. In fact, the songs she learned at Noteworthy have become a staple on our car trips.
Parent #7
The Director's opinions on how learning should happen; in a very organic way, are strongly felt at the school. Worksheets are never given out. Children are encouraged to learn as they play. This is a school that really does what they say they do. Many schools say the right thing, this one really does it. Founded by a free thinker this school relishes each child's individuality and supports the whole child in a way that I never see anywhere else.

the teachers at this school are all excellent!

Being Savvy Today
A Trip to Africa
If you ask most preschoolers about Africa, they will probably tell you what they saw in The Lion King. The Africa of lions, giraffes, hyenas and meerkats all living on the savannah in Africa is only a small part of a land that can exhaust the use of
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
