Parents' Comments on Individualized Teaching
Parent #1
Part of the reason we chose Evergreen is the incredibly high quality of the teachers. We spent time sitting in on classes at a number of similar schools in the Santa Monica area and found the Evergreen teachers to have the highest level of engagement and enthusiasm for their work.
Parent #2
The school has an amazing atelier filled with wonderful artistic items. An imagination has no limits at this school. I did not elaborate on one of the teachers because my time at the school has been reduced since I returned to work and she came after I returned to work. The school teaches amazing songs - not your average day to day rhymes kids learn in school; but more elaborate, sophisticated songs. The school or shall I say Director has mindstakingly put a lot of detail and thought into each and every approach or possibility for learning. The teachers take time to listen for the little moments that become the learning lessons. They are trained and equipped to do this.

The Evergreen staff is phenomenal. The Director and teachers truly understand children and how they work--far better than most parents do. And they are so smart! I learn from them all every time I spend time in the classroom. And certainly they are the most dedicated in their field--challenging themselves to make the classroom more exciting, meaningful and inspiring for the children every day.
Parent #4
The teachers are excellent. They have an incredible balance of giving the children confidence, teaching them respect, letting them to be free to choose their activities while staying cohesive as a group, and creating a warm, fun and happy environment.
Parent #5
Evergreen teachers are extremely special in there ability to scan a room, manage the dynamics, focus the group and facilitate a group conversation with 5 YEAR OLDS. They are always available to hear parent comments and are willing to speak after school to address and help with any issues and to come up with creative solutions.

On the whole, the teachers at Evergreen are wonderful. We've had a very wide range and although the personalities have been different, the focus and level of commitment and interaction with our children has been great. There is an Atelierista - an art teacher and more - who has an incredible atelier with incredible materials - and introduces the children to various media, techniques, etc. and encourages a huge amount of exploration. They sing in the classes every day and every Friday is community day when the whole school goes into the atelier at the beginning of the day - parents as well for those who can/want to - and sing songs together. Also, there is a schedule of interactive world music performances at certain community days throughout the year.

Evergreen teachers as a rule work harder and give more of themselves to the children and the school than any teachers that I have known. The teachers, as a rule, have diverse skill sets which allow both for meaningful bonding and communication with children of this age, and also for the intellectual rigors of utilizing documentation of classroom activities, study of educational theory, etc. to guide ongoing classroom curriculum.
Parent #8
I think the teachers at Evergreen are remarkabley thoughtful and articulate about the children.
