""Our preschool exists to assist parents in training their children in a Christ-centered environment. We also desire to reach out to our neighbors with the Gospel."

The members of Christ the King Lutheran Church established Christ the king Lutheran Preschool to assist parents in training their children. We look upon a child as a gift God has given parents; a child God expects parents to properly train and instruct. We look upon ourselves as helpers in this task of nurturing a child's growth and development. To accomplish this, the following objectives will direct our preschool program:
To provide a Christian atmosphere for training a child at an age when he/she is most easily directed and influenced.
To lead the child to know his/her Lord Jesus Christ, the wonders of His creation and His plan of salvation.
To help the child display Christian love in his/her relationship with others.
To help the child become a good steward of his/her time, gifts, and talents.
To broaden the child¡¦s spiritual, mental, social, physical, and emotional growth with new experiences.
To provide the child with many opportunities for work and play within group situations.
To prepare the child for later, more formal instruction by helping to make the child's adjustment to the school environment happy and wholesome.
To follow the child's progress in all phases of growth through observation and through communication with parents.

To fufill these objectives, the following specific processes and activities for the child are included in our curriculum:

Spiritual Growth
Knowing and trusting in Jesus as his/her Savior
Knowing that our Lord loves and protects him/her
Knowing how God wants him/her, His child, to live
Showing love for the Lord and others
Realizing that the good news of Jesus is for all people
Mental Growth
Increasing attention span and improving listening skills
Developing sensory perception
Developing reasoning and problem solving skills
Learning organizational skills
Discovering similarities and differences
Comparing and identifying shapes
Recognizing colors
Learning new vocabulary
Social Growth
Showing respect for others
Accepting compromises
Learning to share
Assuming responsibility for care of self and possessions
Taking turns
Displaying good manners
Emotional Growth
Learning independence
Gaining self-confidence
Maintaining positive self esteem
Learning appropriate ways to express one's feelings and respond to others feelings
Developing a good attitude
Physical Growth
Developing fine motor skills through cutting, drawing, painting, coloring, tracing, gluing, puzzle making, building, and manipulative play
Developing gross motor coordination through running, walking, skipping, hopping, jumping, bouncing, throwing, catching, balancing
Learning Experiences
Subjects included in expanding the child¡¦s learning experiences are language arts, number readiness, music, art, science, and social studies
Play is integral part of the curriculum. The children's experiences will be broadened through free play periods. A child learns to use his/her body and mind as he/she plays. Children need these experiences involving their senses, the God-given doors of perception which open worlds for the child.
