School Philosophy and Mission

"We understand the level of trust you place in us when you enroll your child in Toddlers Haven Preschool and we are dedicated to providing the very best experience for both you & your child. Our highly successful programs are the culmination of years of education & experience and a true love of what we do. Each program reflects our commitment to providing secure care, quality education, and to meeting the needs of both the child & their families.

“Children Learn Through Play"

For over 25 years Toddler's Haven has been testing and enhancing our curriculums. Every day we learn more ways to teach all kinds of children. Based on the theory that children learn through play, our classroom routines encourage active involvement, meaningful experimentation and reinforcement through repetition. Schedules are designed to balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times.

Recognizing that children grow in unpredictable stages, we treat each child as a unique individual, working from the level each child has attained and moving forward a step at a time. We teach a love of learning by allowing children to experience their own stage of development and helping them to feel success without pressure.

At Toddlers Haven we believe that the most important lesson preschoolers can learn is self-confidence. Our philosophy is based upon the premise that if children are loved & accepted and thus develop their own self-confidence, they will be able to work out solutions to their own problems. We believe that the best way to prepare the child for their future is to encourage them to think for themselves, to make their own decisions, and to trust themselves in their two-, three- or four-year-old worlds.

We want them to feel that they are worthwhile people and that they can function appropriately for their various ages. Self-confidence is not bravado or bullying. If children trust and respect themselves, they don't have to show off and try constantly to gain attention. Children learn self-confidence through playing with other children and by knowing that their teachers like them and will give them help when needed. The approval of parents working at the school, and their acceptance of each child's individual value, also builds self-confidence.

Our mission is to enrich the quality of family life by enhancing the life experiences of the children in our care. We strive to provide peace of mind to parents and create a mutual respect between parents and teachers, a partnership for the benefit of the child. We encourage daily communication between parents and center staff. At Toddlers Haven our teachers and director are always available to answer your questions, to review your child's progress, or to discuss any concerns that you may have.

The parent is the key to the child and our doors are always open to visits from mom, dad, grandma or grandpa! In addition, parents and grandparents are frequently invited to participate in our day-to-day activities, as guest speakers, storytellers, and classroom volunteers. If you have special talents you'd like to share with your child's class, or simply want to spend some time at the center, Toddlers Haven cordially invites you to stop in!

If there was a single photo that could capture my feelings and thoughts about the past year, this would be it. It reminds me to keep looking toward the brightness of the light, even if I am caught in the wild tangle of grasses. This shot reminds me that

Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
