"Teachers in Sanford’s Lower School provide opportunities for children to explore, to create and to develop relationships. The small faculty/student ratio affords each child the appropriate measure of challenge and support within a stimulating and nurturing environment.
The program is based on a series of thematic units of study, such as space travel, the Westward movement and the Rain Forest. Within this thematic structure, children participate in tangible, interrelated experiences. Through individually tailored programs, students master a hierarchy of basic skills, increase their fund of knowledge and gain the self-confidence necessary for reaching their full potential."
