School Philosophy and Mission
The purpose of the Children's Center is to offer a community service by means of providing an environment in which total child development can be achieved, i.e., spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and cultural development. The Children's Center provides a relaxed, tension free environment where each child finds love, security, pleasure, and people interested in him who will help him develop a healthy, wholesome self-concept and a sensitivity to the beauty in art, music, nature, and PEOPLE.
The curriculum places emphasis on the spiritual development of the child. In the "thinking through" sessions of the "Patterns Of Living" found in God's Word as well as in all relationships, the young mind is encouraged to develop, establish and reinforce wholesome Christian values. The Children's Center curriculum also includes the provision for intellectual achievement according to the child's potential. Creative art, music, rhythm, exercise and practical living experiences enhance the child's emotional, cultural, and physical development. The methods of instruction emphasize individuality rather than group conformity in the learning process.
If the child is to accomplish his optimum in the areas of spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and cultural development, the parent must share the responsibility. In accordance with this belief, the Children's Center encourages a parent to familiarize himself with the entire program of the Children's Center and particularly that of his child's group.

A Season of Rituals
Darkest December is upon us, and we are all preparing, in our different ways, to light it up with rituals. Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's. Parties, tree lightings, and holiday cards. Visits with family. Feasts, gifts, and candles.
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Get large plastic buckets (or sand buckets if you have lots of really little toys )in a variety of solid colors (red, blue, yellow, green, pink). Ask your child to clean up his/her toys by putting the toys in the bucket corresponding to the color bucket. Great for teaching personal responsibility, color identification, and sorting.
