School Philosophy and Mission
"The goal of the First Church Early Learning Center is to provide a quality learning experience, addressing all areas of the child's development: physical, emotional, social, and cognitive. The Learning Center is a place where children and childhood are celebrated; where development of self-esteem and self-expression are key elements of the early childhood curriculum; where no question or problem is too big or too small to be heard; and where parents can always find nurture and support for their important role in their children's lives. It offers a safe and pleasant environment where children are both cherished and encouraged to grow; a curriculum that is child centered and age appropriate and a staff that is professional and compassionate. The Learning Center is non-sectarian, and seeks to teach, by example, ways of peace and love, empowering children to resolve their own problems in non-violent ways , to respect each other, and themselves: and to reach out to others. It aims to celebrate the diversity of humankind, involving the children in the festivals of a variety of faiths and cultures; and it provides a non-violent, multi-ethnic environment of books, pictures, music, dolls and toys."

Being Savvy Today
On My Own
We met up with my father for a weekend in Grayton Beach, Florida . It was too short as the girls don't see nearly enough of their grandparents, but we packed it full of fun. We spent our last day on the beach
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
