School Philosophy and Mission
"Philosophy
The first five years of a child's life are important! It is critical for parents to take an active role to ensure a lifelong thirst for learning.
At Palos Verdes Hills Nursery School:
the child and parent both grow and foster new friendships in an enriching environment.
we emphasize the development of self-confidence.
children learn to express their feelings.
children learn to make their own decisions within safe, comfortable limits.
A relaxed, non-competitive and loving atmosphere is an important part of our "curriculum". Individual differences are recognized and each child is helped to progress at his or her own rate in all areas of development. We maintain at least a 4 to 1 ratio (child/adult) to insure the safety of children and to establish a one-to-one relationship as often as possible.

Being Savvy Today
On My Own
We met up with my father for a weekend in Grayton Beach, Florida . It was too short as the girls don't see nearly enough of their grandparents, but we packed it full of fun. We spent our last day on the beach
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
