School Philosophy and Mission
"It is important that a child be provided with a beautiful, stimulating environment, full of learning materials that peak his interest and encourage growth as a student and human. It is equally important that the child be provided with the materials and experiences that are in line with the sensitivities of that developmental period. Once the window of opportunity for learning particular skills or concepts is closed, the child may never be able to truly grasp those ideas later in life. Therefore it is critical that children begin learning reading, writing, and math in their preschool years, whether at home or in a schooling environment.
A Montessori environment enriches the child's mind and spirit. Parents and teachers must enable preschool-age children to do things for themselves, encouraging their independence and self-discipline. Do not do for a child what he can do for himself; just give him the basic tools or instructions needed to accomplish the goal. If we rush a child through his “work” for the sake of time or convenience, we are only squashing their spirit and repressing the true nature of the child.
