"High Desert Montessori & Child Care Center provides the "prepared environment" that is essential to a Montessori education. This environment includes scaled furniture, child-sized brooms, mops, and other cleaning items, individual work spaces, and scientifically designed Montessori learning materials. The Montessori learning materials provide the child with concrete examples of abstract ideas. They are self-correcting, allowing the child to develop the senses and to learn for oneself, under the guidance of a teacher. In the right environment, education comes through spontaneous exercise of the child's own facilities. Education to Maria Montessori was a "preparation for life", not merely a search for intellectual skills.
