School Philosophy and Mission
"The educational philosophy of Granite Bay Montessori is based on the theories of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator. Dr. Montessori developed a program designed to foster the growth of a self—disciplined, confident individual able to contribute significantly to society by fulfilling his or her highest potential.
Our school is staffed by specially trained Montessori teachers who created a carefully arranged environment scaled physically and conceptually to children. In the prepared environment, children may choose activities according to their diverse needs and desires.
The self-correcting materials help children to develop motor and sensory skills, to lengthen concentration span, to discover problem-solving techniques, to learn to care for themselves, and to work with others.
The teacher's role in the Montessori classroom is to motivate and stimulate children by continuously introducing them to new materials and activities. Cooperative projects help children bring together individual talents to accomplish common goals.
Children whose home environments mirror the Montessori philosophy are best able to gain maximum benefit from the Montessori school environment.
Our school program also incorporates special programs in the studies of art, music, foreign language, drama, science, and engineering. Special summer classes are also available.

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
