School Philosophy and Mission
"The Child & Family Center is dedicated to meeting the mental health needs of children, adolescents, adults and their families in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Operating as a private, nonprofit public benefit corporation (501 C3), the Child & Family Center is a certified Medi-Cal community mental health clinic. It provides counseling, intervention services, day care, parent education and behavioral therapy for emotional and behavioral problems of children and families. The Center also provides professional training for mental health interns.
The basic philosophy underlying all of the Center's programs is that early intervention and guidance in a child's development can prevent more serious problems later in life. Also, lasting changes will occur more readily if the parent/caretaker is involved in making the changes. Therefore, all of the programs involve interaction with the parents or caretakers. This encourages a nurturing relationship between the parent and child.
