School Philosophy and Mission
"Learn 'N Playday encompasses all aspects of a child's development. We strongly believe in learning through play and using many hands-on activities to teach a variety of concepts. We do not use worksheets of any kind in our program. Our teachers use thematic teaching as a means to teach your child something new and exciting each week. The majority of the classroom activities are then focused around this theme, which makes learning fun, enjoyable, and concepts easier to understand.
Each classroom is divided into at least 10 different learning centers, each one focusing on different skills and interests. All of these centers teach skills that the children will eventually need to enter kindergarten, and the classrooms are set up just like the AISD kindergarten classrooms. Our curriculum incorporates the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines as established by the Texas Education Agency. These guidelines include goals in the following areas: Language and Early Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health and Safety, Personal and Social Development, Physical Development, and Technology. While striving towards these goals, we know that your child will be able to blossom emotionally and intellectually in a loving and nurturing environment; an environment that promotes socialization, develops self-help skills, encourages emotional development, and most of all the love of learning.

Being Savvy Today
My Year of Giving Thanks
A year is such a strange thing. It's hard to define, other than to say that it's (generally) 365 days long, or to assign some notion of time to it. Yet, the truth is, so much happens in a year that all those events and experiences seem enough for
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
