School Philosophy and Mission

"In the Montessori classroom, each child is free to move about, talk, and work carefully with whatever material he chooses. The classroom offers many opportunities for the child to use his senses to learn about the world. The equipment in the classroom allows the child to interpret and clarify his earlier experiences by inviting him to use his hands for learning. The class materials, which are beautiful to see, and fun to manipulate, enable him to bring order to his impressions of the world about him and then to build further knowledge on this foundation.

The educational materials, which are systematically introduced to the child, do not aim to teach him only specific and narrow facts. The general aim of these materials is to enable him to develop himself intellectually, gradually teaching him art and education, language and literature, moral rules and theories. Every subject prepares a small path to follow and explore. As the child makes small discoveries, he becomes free to proceed from the world of the concrete to that of the abstract. New materials and more difficult procedures are introduced as each level is mastered. In this way, the child earns a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence; he eagerly reaches for a new height of knowledge.
