School Philosophy and Mission
"The main goal of Northminster is to provide fun-filled activities for three, four and five year olds through which they will grow emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually and will prepare them for the challenges of formal learning in kindergarten. Play is a necessary tool through which children learn and develop their skills."

Typical Day-In-The-Life At This School
"Motor Skills Activity
We have four classrooms. We learn through play and activities rather than seat work and drills. Though our motto is flexibility, each class has its own schedule. An example would be:
1/2 hour: Children participate in large motor skills activities in the climbing room with small climbing apparatus and ride on toys, or outside in the fenced play yard with climber, swings, sand boxes, and big wheels.
Play Yard
Riding bikes in the fenced play yard.
Teacher Guided Activities
1/2 hour: Teacher guided group activities such as circle games, science, cooking, short film strips, class discussions.
Free Play
1 hour: Free play is spent within the classroom in self chosen activities in the housekeeping corner, or with blocks, trucks, and with other manipulatives. During this time each student also works individually with the teacher or her aide to create art work developing his/her small motor coordination.
Music
1/2 hour: Once a week the children have music a music teacher who helps the children learn fun songs and rhythm games and beginning music theory.
Snack Time
1/2 hour: Children participate in a time of clean-up, snack, and story time and finger plays.

Being Savvy Today
On My Own
We met up with my father for a weekend in Grayton Beach, Florida . It was too short as the girls don't see nearly enough of their grandparents, but we packed it full of fun. We spent our last day on the beach
