School Philosophy and Mission
"Welcome to the Early Childhood Center at Temple Sholom of West Essex, in Cedar Grove. In a warm and nurturing environment, children have the opportunity to explore the world around them through hands-on, minds-on learning activities, play, and social interaction.
The Center provides a primary introduction to Jewish living through weekly Shabbat observances, Tot Shabbats, celebrations of holidays, and experiences exploring other aspects of our Jewish heritage. Children are exposed to age-appropriate experiences, which further growth in all developmental areas: motor, cognitive, emotional, social, language and literacy. All Temple Sholom teachers have earned educational degrees, and most are certified in early childhood education. They are experienced early childhood educators and skilled in creating environments and experiences that are part of solid, well-rounded programs. Monthly staff meetings, in-service and continuing education keep them informed about innovations in early childhood theory and practice. The Center's teachers and assistants work together with parents and children to provide an exciting and stimulating school experience.

Being Savvy Today
On My Own
We met up with my father for a weekend in Grayton Beach, Florida . It was too short as the girls don't see nearly enough of their grandparents, but we packed it full of fun. We spent our last day on the beach
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
