School Philosophy and Mission
Inspired by Attachment Parenting and Bev Bos, and combining elements from Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf, and Krishnamurti education, Riviera PlaySchool provides a dynamic preschool and kindergarten program with unique and stimulating hands-on activities in a beautiful park-like "open studio" setting. Our school is located on a bridle path, in the woodsy, upper Hollywood Riviera section of Redondo Beach.
"What we ARE teaches the child far more than what we say, so we must BE what we want our children to BECOME." ~ Joseph Chilton Pearce
"Children were not born to walk. They were born to run-- barefoot, over rocks, through the water, through the mud. We need to give greater recognition to the energy and joy of children."~ Bev Bos

Being Savvy Today
My Year of Giving Thanks
A year is such a strange thing. It's hard to define, other than to say that it's (generally) 365 days long, or to assign some notion of time to it. Yet, the truth is, so much happens in a year that all those events and experiences seem enough for
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
