School Philosophy and Mission
This school is about teaching, not day care. We will strive to teach your child empathy, academics (age appropriate), healthy living and eating, art, fine motor skills, and large motor skills. All of these combined will ready your child for Kindergarten and beyond. Providing a safe, non-threatening, and caring atmosphere is essential for the child, parent, and teacher. Communication with a child is very important; we will not talk down to your child. We will get down to their level (height) and speak to them as equals. When a child is doing (or about to do) something wrong we give him/her choices and explain the possible outcome of their choice, thus providing them with the knowledge that doing something right will encourage a positive response from their fellow classmates, parents, and teachers---example-One child gets upset and harms another child. We take both children and sit down with them and ask the one who was harmed how they feel. Meanwhile the one who did the harming must listen, we then ask the child who did the harm if they would like to feel like the other child (their answer will undoubtedly be â??NOâ??). When the child understands that his/her action has hurt the other they will want to apologize and both children can walk away as friends once again. This is a positive response from a negative act that teaches both of the children empathy, cause and effect and friendship.

Being Savvy Today
My Year of Giving Thanks
A year is such a strange thing. It's hard to define, other than to say that it's (generally) 365 days long, or to assign some notion of time to it. Yet, the truth is, so much happens in a year that all those events and experiences seem enough for
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
