Advice from Parents to Prospective Parents on Admissions
Parent #1
Showed a genuine interest in this program above many others, contacted the director and let her know.
Parent #2
We were members of the church, which helped us enormously getting into the school I'm sure. I also wrote a letter to the director after my visits expressing my preference for Calvary over any other school and why. I believe letter writing is critical to distinguishing your application from the many others. Let the director know it's your first choice and that the school matches your values. Values are important at Calvary.
Parent #3
Let them know how comfortable I felt there and that we'd really like to attend.
Parent #4
Being an active member of Calvary Church
Parent #5
Calvary Preschool gives priority to church members. Depending on the number of siblings, church members may or may not be able to attend. In the past few years, some of the church members were granted admission. Historically, the siblings took up all the spaces and it was extremely difficult to get into the preschool even if you were a church member.
Parent #6
I was persistent and did not lose hope when I was put on a waitlist. The philosophy of Calvary was exactly what I was looking for.

Parent #11
Communicated w/ the school director that this school was our family's first preference. Showed very keen interest in the school through personal letters/notes to the director, phone calls and consistent follow ups. Had one Calvary family recommend/write us a letter.
Parent #12
Show up at everything and be pleasant and interested.

Baking Bread with a Toddler
As we enter into cooler weather, indoor pursuits beckon, and what could be better than baking with a toddler? I'm all over the "easy" way -- buy some pre-made dough, roll it out, and cookie cutter it to death
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?
