Director's Comments

Monthly parent education meetings, including guest speakers and interactive evenings. Parents are very important to any early childhood education program and since Montessori does not stop once the child leaves the classroom, parents are absolutely vital to our program.

Separation

Beginning of the year separation is handled through:

- Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

Director's Comments

We work with the family to ease everyone's anxieties. An orientation visit for the child alone by him/herself with the teacher provides a lovely bridge to welcoming a new student. Parents are encouraged to work with staff to do what is best for their child.

Parents' Comments

Parent #1
This is a PUBLIC pre-school, with 1/2 the kids fully subsidized and 1/2 tuition based. This has created amazing diversity in the classroom. The administration is looser than that of a full fee based preschool, but the quality of teaching is exemplary. This is an amazing program, with the ultimate goal of the administrators being a public Montessori elementary program. I applaud their efforts. The parent community is totally what you make it, there is no formal parental involvement required.

Parent #2
Montessori schools generally try to keep distrations out of the classroom during the school day, so that's why parents are not encouraged to drop in to the classroom anytime.
Most parents are working, so while there is a parent community, and evening education sessions, there are very few required events which makes this school easy on busy parents.
