Parent #1
I was very happy with the staff and teachers at ATLC, but did not bond with any of the parents. I think this was due in part to the drop off/pick up arrangements at the school. This is very different in our elementary school. I did not like their separation process for my child but understand that for the most part, it was better for the children to say goodbye to parents at the office and be walked to the classroom by a teacher...my child would have adjusted better if I took her to the classroom myself.
Parent #2
ATLC has a warm caring dedicated staff. There may not be a formal end of year parent-teacher meeting but the school communicates to the parents what the children will be learning via monthly newsletters as well as updating weekly on a billboard what the children learned that day. The teachers also communicate during pick-up time. This is not a strict academic environment, but rather a more relaxed environment learning the basics while having fun at the same time and focusing on the building of self-esteem. The children learn math, phonics, sign language, Spanish, seasons, songs as well as following directions and putting their things away.
Parent #3
Parents are told that the drop off procedure is to let their child out of the car and have them brought in to school by staff. Parents are discouraged from walking thier children to classrooms.
Parent #4
Parents always feel welcome to drop by, ask questions--this is a very welcoming school. Hard for full-time, working parents to communicate w/teachers but are able to leave notes and/or communicate through office staff in an effective manner.

A Great Book Rhymes!
Kids are a funny bunch. They are often loath to change and anything new. But still, our little ones are open to so much -- and so much more than we more ossified parents are! Think of poetry: preschoolers happily read and repeat poems with ease and
