Director's Comments
The child's cubby is like his mailbox. Parents are advised to check it daily for their child's artwork and accomplishments as well as for correspondence such as newsletters, field trip announcements, and tuition receipts.
Newsletters are sent out monthly and contain information regarding the month's themes and curriculum, fingerplays and songs, upcoming events, holidays, and more.
Teacher/parent conferences are scheduled as needed. Parents may request a conference if they desire.
Parents are discouraged from talking at length with the teacher about their child's progress while the child is present. A more suitable time should be arranged with the teacher when she is able to give the parent her complete attention and is not supervising the class.
Separation
| OVERALL RATING (4.7) |
Beginning of the year separation is handled through:
- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
- Parents in classroom early on

Director's Comments
Many children are reluctant to leave their parent at the beginning of school. Our policy is to let the parent handle the situation in whatever way is comfortable for them.
Children pick up on their parents' anxiety and this only makes it more difficult for them. If parents are comfortable leaving their child with just a few tears, we let them know that that is o.k. with us and hold and comfort the child until they are ready to participate in activities.
If the parent chooses, however, they may stay with their child. On subsequent days we recommend to the parent to come and stay awhile, then leave and come back a bit early. With each day they would decrease the time they stay and come a little later until after a few weeks, they should be able to drop off their child at 9:00 and pick them up at closing time.
Our main concern is that the parent do what is comfortable for them.
Parents' Comments
Parent #1
This is a co-op preschool, so parents are heavily involved in the day-to-day activities of the classroom. The director plans and teaches all the curriculum, with parents as helpers. It is an ideal process, because as parents we can observe firsthand how our child is doing socially and academically, and spending time with the director also encourages discussion about the child. I highly recommend this style of preschool, and Blossom Valley International in particular.

A Great Book Rhymes!
Kids are a funny bunch. They are often loath to change and anything new. But still, our little ones are open to so much -- and so much more than we more ossified parents are! Think of poetry: preschoolers happily read and repeat poems with ease and
