Informal dialogue at drop off and pick up. Casual notes or phone calls when appropriate. Conferences called by parents or teachers. Progress reports in November and May. Parents are encouraged to participate in the classroom when interested and we have observation windows for viewing. We will advise any parent that asks and will give them the benefit of our knowledge and experience. Mostly, we describe the type of environment we feel their child will be most successful in and then list some options in that category.

Individually! We encourage parents to stay or go quickly depending on the individual child. We will hold and comfort the child and try to engage them in an activity. We encourage parents to watch from the observation windows once they leave.

Cornerstone Preschool is geared at preparing the children for kindergarten in a fun and relaxed learning environment. There is an assessment for those going into kindergarten (the following year) that tests if the child is ready across variety of levels (i.e. socially, mentally, physically, etc.). It is not an academic preschool. The teachers and staff are friendly, loving, and do a good job at making all the children feel welcome and part of the class. Communication is frequent and although they don't offer formal teach-parent conferences, it is convenient and requested that parents talk to the teachers on a daily basis on progress and any issues that are relevant with respect to your child. I would highly recommend Cornerstone Preschool, especially if in Almaden Valley and your child will be attending one of the schools in Almaden. For my daughter, bonds formed in preschool continue into elementary school since some of the Cornerstone children are now in her current school.

A Great Book Rhymes!
Kids are a funny bunch. They are often loath to change and anything new. But still, our little ones are open to so much -- and so much more than we more ossified parents are! Think of poetry: preschoolers happily read and repeat poems with ease and
