Director's Comments
We are engaged with a Family Involvement Program. The Director attends monthly meetings and networks with other Directors for exciting new ideas. We do family spaghetti dinners, pancake & PJ's Day, Parent Appreciation Breakfast, Open House, and Parent/Teacher meetings. We have an open door policy and encourage feedback. All children receive a daily note along with newsletters. The Director calls families to brag about super behavior and accomplishments.
Separation

Beginning of the year separation is handled through:
- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
- Extra staff dedicated to handle separation

Director's Comments
Parents are encouraged to never sneak away. If the child has seperation anxiety, we develop a routine of using the restroom, or reading a book before a hug and a kiss goodbye. Parents smile and if they need to they are welcome to sit with me in my office to cry, talk, or just relax. The child will calm down and the parent becomes aware first hand.

I was encouraged not to sneak away on the first day by the Director. I was encouraged to say goodbuy, give a hug & say " I will be back at the end of the day." It was hard, but it helped my daughter trust me & the staff.

Growing Up Too Fast
This photo of my daughter Ramona captures a wistful but joyous moment this past October at a local farm outside of Portland, Oregon. This snapshot memorializes her two front teeth, which she yanked out herself the following week. (As you can see, they're barely

Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
