- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

- Small group sessions

Director's Comments

It is a delicate process, with enough staff to give individual attention to a child who is experiencing separation. We offer the first two days of school as Visiting Days, and allow parents to stay for the entire day. After that ask that parents leave their child with us, and allow for a time to work through separation.

Parents' Comments

The facility is a renovated house, which my husband and I thought was a great transition from our daughter's time at home to school. It is a warm and friendly atmosphere, and the teachers are very personable. Also, there is a summer program for this school. You can sign up for a week at a time. We found it VERY helpful in overcoming separation anxiety. Our daughter knew where everything was after only one week of the summer program, and felt very confident when school started.

Parent #2
Our school is play based and like a big family. They are very supportive to the kids and parents. They are not goal oriented, nor get hung up with fund raising and reporting. Just good ol' fashioned preschool.

Parent #3
La Canada Preschool has a unique student-teacher learning experience in that the students get to interact with up to 4 different teachers during the day at the various stations. The exposure to different activities as well as teaching styles really help prepare students to taking advice/guidance from different types of teachers and /or styles.

Kids are a funny bunch. They are often loath to change and anything new. But still, our little ones are open to so much -- and so much more than we more ossified parents are! Think of poetry: preschoolers happily read and repeat poems with ease and
