Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Every week our child is given 'homework' -- usually a worksheet to color in and to practice drawing the letter of the week. She is also given a library book once a week and a reading book (currently the books have just pictures, not words) that she is to read to us with a log for us to write how she is doing. There is no pressure to get the homework done or done well, but it creates continuity between what she is doing at school and what we can be doing to reinforce that learning at home.
Parent Community
| COHESIVENESS RATING (3.5) |

- Receive newsletters
- Hold social events outside of the school (with and/or without children)

Parents' Comments
Parent #1
Parents are able to participate in the school in a number of ways. There is no fundraising as BSC is a for-profit school, so parents focus their energies on contributing to other initiatives such as bridging the school with community projects, volunteering for all-school art and literacy events, and providing management with input through a parent board and rep group.
Parent #2
The parent community is a very active group who seek the support and friendship of others within the school. As parents are like-minded in their educational values, there is a natural synergy that helps foster relationships, camaraderie and support.

A Great Book Rhymes!
Kids are a funny bunch. They are often loath to change and anything new. But still, our little ones are open to so much -- and so much more than we more ossified parents are! Think of poetry: preschoolers happily read and repeat poems with ease and
