Director's Comments
Separation anxiety is handled differently for each child. We work with the parent to discuss which process will be most successful for their child. We have practiced a variety of methods to help children separate from their parents with as little trauma as possible, and find that most often assigning a staff member to shadow the new student for their first few days works best to help the child feel most comfortable.

My son is in the Pre-K program this year and loves it! The teacher is amazing and has a very structured yet creative curriculum. They are learning so much!

Capitol Hill School has wonderful indoor spaces but mediocre outdoor play area. The preschool is almost entirely play oriented with some introduction to letters, etc. Great Art program. The preschool teachers are very warm. The Pre-K is more academic with letters, numbers, pre-math projects (shapes, blocks, etc.) and discussion topics introduced every day as some sort of play activity. However, I do believe that the staff lets the kids go at there own pace and if they are not interested they can do something else. There is no pressure to 'perform'. The Pre-K teachers are incredibly creative with games, art acitivities that incorporate learning and are really energetic. The Pre-K class does a field trip every month. Parent Community is organized by 'class' parents and level of participation is individual. If you want to be more involved, you need to be proactive.
Parent #3
Although they are very open to questions, etc., they do not go out of their way to provide information on your child's progress, unless you specifically ask about it.
Parent #4
I have a great relationship with our teacher. She is very helpful and always willing to provide information if requested.
Parent #5
Very easy to pop in anytime and the kids love it!

A Great Book Rhymes!
Kids are a funny bunch. They are often loath to change and anything new. But still, our little ones are open to so much -- and so much more than we more ossified parents are! Think of poetry: preschoolers happily read and repeat poems with ease and
