FAMILY CONNECTIONS: We like to think that we can offer children the benefits of ?extended family? in the context of ?It takes a village... ? to raise a child. Incorporating as much of a child?s family through pictures, sharing stories and objects, traditions, and so on is vital to making children feel comfortable and at home in the daycare environment. Your contributions in the classroom are so valuable in helping your child connect and bond with his/her peers and teachers.

PARENT COMMUNICATION: Newsletters are distributed quarterly. Parent letters go out as needed either to the entire population or specifically as appropriate. We encourage informal communications on an ongoing basis and hope you will feel free to discuss ideas, issues, or concerns with teachers or the director as you feel the need to.

Once you make the decision to enroll at Cascade Children?s Corner, we will discuss arrangements for transition visits. Transition visits are very important for the successful entry of your child into our program. Because each child and family situation varies, transition plans are also variable. We want to make the best accommodation for you that we can. Visits are equally important for parents and children. During this time parents are provided an opportunity to become better acquainted with staff and the other children attending Cascade Children?s Corner. (Excerpted from Online Parent Handbook)

Parent #1
My child is two and not technically in pre-school. Teachers keep an ongoing log of her development, but there aren't specific learning goals that I'm aware of. The teachers have done an excellent job of transitioning her from room to room over the twenty months that she's been there and provide parents with an understanding of the culture and routines of each room, which coincide with childrens' development.

CCC is a full-time daycare and pre-school starting with infants. The preschool and pre-K teachers truly focus on what is in the best interest of the kids and how to prepare them for success in Kindergarten.

Our transition was both traumatic and lengthy. Due to particular circumstances, extra staff were not available to shepard the process. We were not totally prepared for it either.

My child has been in the school from age 3 months to 1 year, therefore my school may offer guidance and information that was not needed for an infant. She has been in the 'pre-toddler' room for one month and I was very impressed with the several week transition phase they had in place.

Cascade has an emergent curriculum, which doesn't really have stated developmental goals.

Volunteering in the classroom is optional and welcomed.

Not sure what they do at the pre-school level, but there are lots of holiday and year-round events for the children that parents are encouraged to attend.

We have a listing of all parents email addresses so we can communicate. Each child also has a mailbox where we can leave notes for other families.

Coordinates issues to support the teachers such as collecting donations for bonuses, wedding gifts, etc.
