Savvy Source's Comments
We recognize that parents are their children's most important teachers. Therefore teachers maintain constant communication with parents throughout the year, through informal conferences and telephone contact. Good communication is the key to a team approach at Gan Elohim. On a daily basis, white boards are posted outside each classroom, which include the activities for the day, snack, and special visitors. Every week we send home a newsletter. The newsletter can include information that parents want to share, a letter from the director, news from the teachers or a flyer that needs to be distributed. Monthly newsletters are sent home as well filled with curricular or developmental highlights from each class. We also include articles, information on conferences or suggestions regarding child rearing issues.
We encourage parents to call whenever they have a question or concern and to alert the staff regarding any information that might mean that a child needs an extra hug or special attention ? such as changes in the household, the death of a family member or pet, etc.
A parent back-to-school night is held in the fall where teachers are able to describe individual classroom curriculum and developmental information, help to familiarize you with the school and to answer any questions. Parent?teacher conferences are held each year, in the fall and in the spring. Parents will be given a written assessment of their child's growth and development. There are also opportunities for parents to share their thoughts about their child's development and to ask questions or discuss any concerns.

A Great Book Rhymes!
Kids are a funny bunch. They are often loath to change and anything new. But still, our little ones are open to so much -- and so much more than we more ossified parents are! Think of poetry: preschoolers happily read and repeat poems with ease and
