Home-School Connection
Director's Comments
There is an Informational Evening for parents at the beginning of the school year. There are several opportuniites to enable parents to discuss their child's progress with the class teacher.
In additional there are 'communication' books that travel between School and home each day for teachers and parents to comment.
We believe that children feel most secure and learn best when all 'significant adults' are working together for their benefit. Partnership between School and home is of paramount importance and is a strong feature of our philosophy. This partnership grows if there is regular, two-way communication, contact and discussion between home and School.
Separation
Beginning of the year separation is handled through:
- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
- Small group sessions

Director's Comments
During the admissions stage, we offer class visits for prospective pupils to familarize themselves with the teacher, classroom and other pupils. If the child is anxious then we do not force the child to separate but instead encourage them to 'join in' on the fun and suggest a 2nd class visit, which typically enables the child to be more comfortable - by knowing what to expect during their next visit. This approach is less stressful for a child who is hesitant to separate. Equally, our teachers are well trained in encouraging children to come in to the classroom and reassure the child that their parent will rejoin them soon.

Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
