Home-School Connection
Director's Comments
As is any communication, hearing about a child's progress and day is crucial. Each day parents will have an opportunity to speak with me when picking their child up after dismissal. Parent meetings or phone can also be arranged. Each month a newsletter will be sent home with updates about what we are/will be learning, news, at home activities that parents can do with their children.
Separation
Beginning of the year separation is handled through:
- Home visits by teachers
- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
- Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
- Parents in classroom early on

Director's Comments
If a child needs an extra minute to spend hugging their mom or dad, that is great; however, we do not encourage parents to sit and talk to their children for periods of time. Often a child who has separation anxiety will find that starting a new routine is hard but if they have something special to start with them, it sometimes makes it easier. If a child needs to bring that special bear from home, during the meet and greet time, that child may do nothing but hug that bear if they choose, but once activities get started most children are excited to be involved as every other child. More accommodations can be made if needed.
