Home-School Connection
Director's Comments
This director greets parents every day. I stop what ever I'm doing and give the parent 100% of my attention to share about the child's day and to listen to the parent's joys and concerns. I then apply what is needed to the program or share information with staff accordingly.
Separation
Beginning of the year separation is handled through:
- Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
- Small group sessions
- Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
- Parents in classroom early on
- Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Director's Comments
Every child is different and the needs of each family needs to be determined case by case. I'll give one recent example. We had a child who had a hard time separating from mom in the morning. He was only 20mos. old and cried long and hard each morning. So we scheduled 20min. each morning when he arrived for he and his primary teacher to spend one on one with out any other children. This was great, he settled in quickly and the whole day seemed easier for him after that.

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
