Parents' Comments
Parent #1
The Infant Program at La Palma Pepper Tree Preschool has caring and professional teachers/aides. The routine is flexibile to meet each child's needs. They support the parents' wishes in feeding breastmilk, if desired. The facility is neat and clean. I did note one instance of a teacher feeding multiple children banana with one spoon, but that practice ceased when I requested this not be done.
The older infants/toddlers have a more structured routine with one naptime and plenty of opportunity for play. These teachers appear to be less experienced (easily distracted) but are well-intentioned. They may introduce sweeter drinks/food to the children for snack. Parents need to keep the staff informed of dietary limits/wishes when this is not desired.
The school is generally good, with occasional problems in maintaining proper teacher/student ratios. I enjoyed the Infant Prgram, but have some reservations about individualizing some aspects of care now that my child is older. We are still acclimating to the new routine and are still evaluating how we like the change.

Being Savvy Today
My Year of Giving Thanks
A year is such a strange thing. It's hard to define, other than to say that it's (generally) 365 days long, or to assign some notion of time to it. Yet, the truth is, so much happens in a year that all those events and experiences seem enough for
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
