Teachers are gentle, caring and really seem to know how to manage the kids. It is defintely a TEACHER-RUN school not a parent-run school and from personal experience having worked in the Chicago Catholic schools, we prefer to step back and let the teachers/administrators run the show.

Montessori education in a Catholic setting (which is virtually unheard of). Negatives are outdated facilities and only goes through third grade

I'm surprised that there are several children (ages 3-5) who are sent to the principal's office on a regular basis, which makes me worry about classroom control. Most of the children seem well behaved but there are a few bad seeeds this year that seem to have distracted that teachers and whose behavior has not improved. I was really hoping to find a parent community here but that has been difficult. Without getting out of the cars and few school events it is difficult to meet other parents. My daughter's classroom this year refused to publish a class list of names and phone numbers and/or email, citing privacy concerns, and refused to let a parent do it on their own, which was frustrating. I volunteered for at all possible events our first year and was disappointed when the principal had no idea who I was and didn't seem to care. All that said, I think the teachers really do care about my child, want her to succeed and they do their best.

I LOVE Cardinal Bernadin. The teachers are excellent and my kids LOVE going to school and are learning tons.
