Parents' Comments
Parent #1
The school is very organized but social expectations are too high for the 3/4 year olds. I was asked to have my child go home and practice taking turns because he kept asking when his turn would be. Another child's parents were told to have their child practice walking in a line because he was having a difficult time with that task at school. We are talking about three year olds who were entering preschool for the first time. The rooms are also very small and cramped. There is little room for the children to move and recess is negotiated between the teachers. So, a child may have to be in class for 2 hours before getting outside to move. I would not reccomend this school for any child that is active.

Teachers are very responsive to parents concerns and needs.

Like most preschools in this area First Pres is developmentally based. My son's teacher taught more in the way of science and academics than the other teachers but I wish they went a little further. Because this school is not a day care facility I rarely saw children who came to school sick. Since most of the moms there are stay-at-home moms if their kids are sick they just kept them home. My son's other preschool was a day care and there were so many kids being dropped off who were clearly sick with green mucus caked onto the front of their shirts. My son was sick for months until we switched preschools.

This is a play-based preschool with a little academics thrown in. It has worked well for my daughter and she is always happy to go to preschool. The teachers are great - very low turn-over. Even most of the aides are also certified preschool teachers. Children get to enjoy music class once a week and many activities throughout the year. This is a chruch-based preschool, so they do cover basics of Christian religion,

It was a cold and soggy day at the Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo. Cold, that is, for March day here in Austin. Of all the sights to see, my son spent most of our visit at the petting zoo. He picked out his

Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
