Parents' Comments

The school has a major strength in the resources available to them as being part of the JCC. The 4 year old classrooms take swimming lessons! 3 and 4 year olds have gym instruction. All children have music instruction. On inclement days there are plenty of spaces for indoor play and equipment for them to use. Also there are a whole host of after school activities from ballet to rock climbing to art or ceramics or cooking and so much more! Children can be transported directly to their activities to be picked up by parents later.

Overall I have been very happy at this preschool. Since I've been there they hired a new director who I believe is excellent-that has made a huge difference. My daughter has loved her experiences at the JCC(she's been there for 2 school years) and I have felt that is was a completely safe and nurturing environment. It is certainly not perfect but I don't believe any preschool is. It has been such a pleasure for me to be part of the JCC community-that is definitely a bonus to sending to child to this preschool-you definitely feel that you are part of a community. The JCC offers many after school enrichment classes and that has also been a huge bonus. If you sign your child up for a class they will escort him/her to their after school class and you can pick them up after the class. That has worked out very well. Overall any negative experience I've had as a parent has been completely outweighed by the many positive ones and my daughter and I both have made lasting friendships over the course of the two years.

Strengths: Jewish traditions, Hebrew, community center, some of the teachers are terrific; the director and Ledgwood Specialists are warm, caring individuals who enjoy kids. Swimming and enrichment classes are readily available, as well as the big gym and children's gym.

Get large plastic buckets (or sand buckets if you have lots of really little toys )in a variety of solid colors (red, blue, yellow, green, pink). Ask your child to clean up his/her toys by putting the toys in the bucket corresponding to the color bucket. Great for teaching personal responsibility, color identification, and sorting.
