Parents' Comments
Parent #1
I love Copper Beech. The staff is great with the exception of the transition lead teacher, but fortunately for the school and the children attending next year she will no longer be there. Although she is opening her own school in Hyde Park and I feel bad for the children and parents who that plan on going there.
Parent #2
Although, in principle, Montessori's method is very good, this particular institution, in the transition room at least, is run by incompetent, disinterested and "bored" instructors. Not only our son, but other children were received with lukewarm if no excitement. The main teacher showed NO enthusiasm for ANY activities and couldn't wait to get out at 3:30pm. A huge disappointment for all of us.
Parent #3
The Montessori education philosophy focuses on independent learning taking into account the individual pace and abilities and interests of each child. The kids have a structured day and follow certain rules which I think is different from other schools. The school emphasizes respect for each other and for each other's space. The kids are always encouraged to do things themselves and are not corrected if e.g. they put their shoes on the wrong feet because the belief is that they need to recognise the mistake on their own in order to learn from it. There are not toys other than educational toys (blocks, beads, puzzles, books) so a Montessori school is not for your child if you are looking for a more play-oriented school.

Being Savvy Today
On My Own
We met up with my father for a weekend in Grayton Beach, Florida . It was too short as the girls don't see nearly enough of their grandparents, but we packed it full of fun. We spent our last day on the beach

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
