Discipline
| OVERALL RATING (4.4) |
|
Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
...are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
Great playground and equipment. Great classroom toys, etc.
Parent #2
Activities are not as advertised--"Nature Walk" is strapping kids into the stroller around the concrete parking lot or teachers sitting watch kids strapped into the stroller with no activities; Water play includes teachers hosing down the concrete walkway while toddlers play in the puddles with just their bare hands. Inadequate facilities results in kids being placed in booster seats directly on the floor in the corner of the room where visibility of and by the children is very limited.
Parent #3
Discipline has always been handled well, and communicated with me by notes and talking to the teachers upon pickup. Kids are sent home whenever sick and good communication of posting warnings anytime a more serious illnesses are reported within the school (example: strep throat or pink eye). The gate into the preschool keeps kids securely in the preschool playground area and away from the parking lot, and the handle is out of reach for most kids. Staff members know who comes on campus because anyone entering has to pass in front of the office (and parents are usually warmly greeted when picking up and dropping off kids!). The classrooms have good heating in the winter, and AC in the summer. The outside playground equipment is wonderful- they have 2 new huge play structures, a sand box and lots of grass out front as well a nice playground set up along the side walkway where most of the classes have their front doors.

Being Savvy Today
On My Own
We met up with my father for a weekend in Grayton Beach, Florida . It was too short as the girls don't see nearly enough of their grandparents, but we packed it full of fun. We spent our last day on the beach
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Trace around your child's foot, with shoe on, on a piece of white construction paper or card stock. Have child cut out the shoe print and add a spooky face. Glue it to a popsicle stick and you have a ghost stick puppet!
