Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
...are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
The school has consulted a number of children's' doctors about when it is okay to come to school with a runny nose or cough and has educated the parents about these procedures. Point being that while they keep kids at home who could pass things on to other (i.e., kids with a fever or rash), you do not have to keep you child for the duration (beginning to end of a cold). Otherwise your child would never go to school. There immune systems are developing and that is a good thing. Do not be afraid of sick children...ask that the day care or pre-school knows how to manage it.
Parent #2
They are usually good about filling out an incident report, etc., but my child was bitten once and I didn't find out until I looked on her arm and saw a bite mark and asked her about it.

A Season of Rituals
Darkest December is upon us, and we are all preparing, in our different ways, to light it up with rituals. Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's. Parties, tree lightings, and holiday cards. Visits with family. Feasts, gifts, and candles.
Now in BeingSavvy, Pasadena
...more great books and toys for the holiday
Today's focus is on Richard Scarry, beloved author and illustrator of children's books. Don't tell your 1-4 year old, but his funny, lively characters Lowly Worm, Huckle Cat, and the road-trippin' Pig family are really a delightful way to help very young children through the "What's that?"/"How come?" stage without
Montessori? Waldorf? Play-based?
What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?

Today's “Preschool’s Out” Activity
Get large plastic buckets (or sand buckets if you have lots of really little toys )in a variety of solid colors (red, blue, yellow, green, pink). Ask your child to clean up his/her toys by putting the toys in the bucket corresponding to the color bucket. Great for teaching personal responsibility, color identification, and sorting.
