We practice developmental discipline, where children are taught how to identify and verbalize their feelings in a conflict.

Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario

Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'


We would comfort Child B, letting them know that there are other children to play with. We would stay close to Child B to ensure they find another activity or a friend.

The first visit to the school, some parents may feel that the school is too small, but that is the beauty of it!!! The school is perfectly set up to provide the safety and security for the children. Too often parents are wowed by the size of a playground, but actually it is very difficult to provide the safety for the children with such a large area. The setup at La Canada provides a cozy environment for kids and teachers to interact as opposed to a huge school with 15 billion kids where individuals can separate themselves and disappear from the learning process
