Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
...are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Director's Description to School's Approach to Discipline
Our overall approach to discipline is to guide the children with positive input and catch children doing the right thing.
Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
We try to help children understand other people's feelings and how it feels good to involve all children in their play. When children exclude friends we tell them how we are all friends and it feels good to include everyone and play together. Most of the time with a little direction children become caring friends.
Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
An amazing playground and beautiful, grassy yard. One year, my daughter spent hours playing with the fallen blossoms under a magnificent cherry tree.
Parent #2
Its a small space. It's awkward at drop-off and pick-up with way too much congestion. There are two rooms. As you go through the 1st room to get to the back room there are sometimes children still napping which you have to step over. You can hardly say two words at drop off or pick up because of the lack of space. There's not much they can do to reorganize it either although they keep trying, this is the locale between 9th & 10th streets.

Wise Words to Remind You to Watch the Amazing Show of Childhood

What school type is right for your child? Is one model better than another? What does the research say?
