Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
...are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Director's Description to School's Approach to Discipline
Teachers often redirect a child who is having a difficult time make a good choice.
Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
1) The teacher might intervene and ask if Child A if there is a way to include Child B in the game. OR 2) The teacher might suggest that Child A let Child B know that today they need some space - and that they are still friends, but maybe they can play later.
Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
HL has a nice outdoor space, and is replacing an older climbing structure this semester with a fabulous new one. There is also sand, water etc, lots of toys, and a fence between two play areas allowing the older kids (4-5) to play separately from the very small kids (2-3) which I think is smart and appropriate.
