Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
...are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
Children are spoken to with respect and calm tone. Parents learn how to negotiate conflicts. I leave my coop experience a better parent. My child leaves Sequoia with wonderful memories and quality play-based learning.
Parent #2
kids inevitably exclude kids and our teachers and parents (3:1 ratio of kids:adult) work hard to resolve these conflicts by getting down on their level, give both side words to use to include one another.
Parent #3
The space is open for inside and outside play flowing through out the play day.
Parent #4
Again, the amount of space Sequoia has is unparalleled. It's nestled among giant redwoods that give you such a feeling of serenity (yes, serenity amongst 3 and 4 year olds!)

Parent #6
Behavior is always addressed so children get a very clear idea of what is acceptable and unacceptable.
Parent #7
I never question the safety of my child at Sequoia - there are always 6 parents, a teacher and director at school, and every area is covered completely at all times. With such a high adult/child ratio, there are multiple sets of ears open to hear any discord or conflict, leading to immediate intervention where necessary; intervention being defined as encouraging the children to discuss the situation, and come to resolution as encouraged by the adult.
Parent #8
In a discipline situation an adult steps in and deals with the problem right away. Each child is asked to explain the problem if they can and then to offer solutions if they can. All the while the adult offering suggestions if needed. It's a very clean school and well taken care of.
Parent #9
Disciplinary/conflict issues are handled by immediate discussion with the child(ren) involved
