Director's Description to School's Approach to Discipline
When very young children have difficulty interacting, I help redirect them to another play area or activity. As children become a little older, I encourage and help them to resolve problems with their friends by using their words and being kind. Sometimes I use 'time away' with the older children, giving them a chance to reflect on their behavior and then return to an activity. In my experience, consistent guidelines and predictable limits set in a nurturing environment reduce the number of behavioral issues. Children are eager to learn, play, please and get along.
