Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
...are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Director's Description to School's Approach to Discipline
Redirection is main focus for bad behavior and positive reenforcement is main focus for good behavior.
Director's Response to a Sample Discipline Scenario
Description of how teachers handle the following scenario: Child A and Child B are good friends and usually play together. One day, Child A decides to play with Child C and tells Child B, 'I don't want to play with you today. I'm playing with Child C instead.'
Our teachers try to acknowledge Child B's feelings first and then redirect her to other children or offer to have her help teacher. Maybe later helping her reconnect with hothre to girls.
Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
I've seen teachers separate the offending child from the group to sit out for a while and then give loving attention to the child the child that has been hurt. Reassure that child and send it on his/her way to play. The offending child may or may not be spoken to in a proper manner and then sent back to play. Example: one child hit another child or pulls hair. The offending child is set aside for a moment to reflect on the bad behavior. The other child is check to make sure there are no 'hurts', reassured and then sent to play. The offending child is then spoke to about what happened, explaining that it hurts when someone gets hit or their hair is pulled. Then sent on to play.

Some of the questions do not pertain to our daughter due to her age, but you do not allow for N/A, and you must answer.
Parent #3
My only complaint about the outdoor play equipment is that some are made of wood. My child has come home on several occasions with a splinter in his finger.
Parent #4
The staff at the school seems to know everyone by name. Amazing how they do that.
Parent #5
The school has fabulous indoor play areas for rainy days and the outside playground is very nice.
Parent #6
very pleased with all aspects of this school
Parent #7
Children are expected to "use their words" and try some problem-solving before teachers intervene. The teachers are great and very aware of what's going on.
Parent #8
I would prefer that the toys in the infant and toddler rooms were reviewed to ensure they aren't potentially toxic plastics with BPA, phthlates, etc. and/or that non-toxic, natural sanitizers were used. But, I also realize that much of the standards for cleaning and sanitation are set by the state's Dept. of Family and Protective Services. Nevertheless, it would be nice to see centers move in this direction.
