Parents at this school, on average, believe that conflicts between children:
...are handled extraordinarily well in a way that not only gives me confidence in the safety of my child but also reassures me that my child (and his/her peers) are learning the early skills needed to socialize effectively with one another

Parents' Notes on Discipline, Health and Safety
Parent #1
There is not a formal outside space, but the school is affiliates and uses the gym spaces at the Sports Club LA across the street which has excellent facilities. In the summer, the older children also use the pool there.
Parent #2
While Spruce doesn't have a private playground, the classes spend a great deal of time outside (when weather permits), either playing games on 'the field' or at the Tadpole Playground. Each class also has an assigned time each week to play in the studio space at the Sports Club LA. In my experience, discipline at Spruce is handled with conversations about what happened, what are the consequences of that behavior and what the child thinks should be done to remedy the situation. My son has learned that a blithe 'sorry,' isn't as meaningful to an offended party as asking, 'are you okay?' and 'what can I do to help you feel better?' In other situations of inappropriate behavior in the classroom, my understanding is that children may be asked to sit out from the activity after they receive a number of warnings that their behavior is disruptive to their class.
