Parents' Comments
Parent #1
East Hills Preschool focuses on the social development of the children, and provides opportunities for them to develop at their own pace in all areas.

Emergent curriculum
Parent #3
The daily routines includes two group sessions, one for stories, poems, songs, rhymes, puppets etc which is teacher led. The other group session is divided into k-bound and non-k-bound children. Name recognition, dancing, movement to music, stories, are done in the second session and are music led. The rest of the time stations are set up, for example, always an art table, literacy table, puzzles, etc. Children are strongly encouraged--but not forced--to visit all areas during free play time, but are also given plenty of time in free play with blocks, trains, book corner, dollhouse in loft, dress up corner with kitchen, etc.
Parent #4
The staff at East Hills is definitely into a more developmentally appropriate style of teaching. I know that the children do get to decide what they would like to do, but they are gently encouraged to participate in the learning process. Most children in the room tend to do all of the activities that are offered because the teachers make it so much fun!
Parent #5
The teachers do circle times for music, story telling etc. There are also stations for the children to explore different activities all week. They also do one on one time with all the children during the day and also small group time where the children are divided into 2 groups of older and younger. There is a great balance of teacher led activities with free play!
Parent #6
East Hills is a developmental preschool and their approach to teaching reflects that.
